Communication via the internet

OK, so communicating via the internet is enormous. I chose this picture because we can communicate all over the world. It's amazing. You can be anywhere, anytime, almost lost on the internet - there is so much to experience. The time factor is a big plus to me, such as using email, instead of having to make trips to see certain people.
The bad thing about communicating via the internet is we can use this mode to not have to directly connect with other people. This could be a problem for those that are introverted. It is probable best we stay neutral and use the internet to communicate as well as connect in person. One thing I really miss is reading books because I spend so much time on the internet.

I too spend less time reading real books and more time on the Internet, but because of the vast array of Internet tools available, I've reconnected with many people from my earlier life, that I had lost touch with, mostly old friends that I grew up with in England that I don't have the opportunity to talk to F2F. So I think it works both ways.

Introverts and "slipping" students. Yes...I find I have to actively reach out to students who are too "quiet" and not turning work in. If I "assume" all is well, they usually slide away. One technology to not forget in an online course is the good 'ol telephone. I call students during weeks 2 and 3 if they are not doing well. This helps some get on the train and others realize they want to get off.

Sue, I think you are about to catch the essence of this course with your latest Course Competencies' additions.

I suggest that there can be multiple mini-modules in a week's module.
